You do not have to plan a plot. Pick something that really happened and say it plainly. Here are a few that make good books:

  • A rainy afternoon under a blanket fort.

How it works for you

Four steps, no drawing and no writing

  1. Tell us what happened. Type it, record yourself telling it, or photograph a page you wrote by hand.
  2. Add photos. A photo of your grandchild, and of you if you want to be in the book, so the pictures look like you both.
  3. Look at every page. Change any line. Redo any picture with a short note such as “make her laugh.”
  4. Order it. You see the price in the app first. Type the address of whoever should get the book, your grandchild's family or your own.

With their parents, not around them

A book the whole family can say yes to

A child's photos matter to their parents, and they should. So the book is easy to share before it is made real. You can send the family a PDF of the whole book, and nothing is ordered until you decide.

Your photos stay private to your account and are used only to paint your book. They are never used to train AI. The pictures are painted with AI, and you look at every page before it is printed. Every book starts from something that really happened, in your own words.

Can I make a book about a day I spent with my grandchild?

Yes, that is exactly what it is for. Tell us a sentence or two about the day, add a photo, and Storytruly writes and paints the book. You see two real pages first, free, with no sign-up.

Do I need photos?

A photo of your grandchild helps the pictures look like them. Without one the book still works, and you can add photos later and redo any picture.

Can I be in the book too?

Yes. Add a photo of yourself, or describe yourself in a sentence, and you will be in the pictures beside your grandchild.

Can it go straight to my grandchild's home?

Yes. When you order, you type the shipping address, so the book can go to your grandchild's family or to you. The price is shown in the app before you order.

Will the parents be comfortable with it?

Show them. You can share a PDF of the whole book with the family before it is printed, and nothing is ordered until you say so. Photos stay private to your account and are never used to train AI.

Can I tell the story in my own language?

Yes. Tell it in one language and get the book in another: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese or Dutch. A grandmother who tells it in Spanish can give an English book.

Can I tell it out loud instead of typing?

Yes. Record a voice memo, type it, or photograph a handwritten page. Storytruly writes the book from whichever you use.

Are the pictures made with AI?

Yes. The pictures are painted with AI from your words and photos, in the art style you pick, and you can redo any of them. You look at every page before anything is printed.

Is it a real printed book?

Yes. It is printed in full color as an 11 by 8.5 inch landscape book, hardcover or softcover. You check a page-by-page proof first, and the team gives it a last look before it is printed.

How much does it cost?

The two-page preview is free and needs no sign-up. The price of the printed book is shown in the app before you order, so there is no surprise at the end.
