Storytruly turns a real moment from your family's life into an illustrated picture book. That means we handle personal things: your children's names, ages and photos, and your stories. This page says what we collect, why, who helps us, and how to delete it all.
What we collect
- Your sign-in: the name and email address Google gives us. We never see your Google password.
- What you give us to make a book: the stories you type, record or photograph, your children's first names and ages, and the photos you add.
- Your books: the words, pictures, versions and settings we make from that.
- When you order a print: the name and shipping address you type, and your email, so the book reaches you.
- How the site is used: the pages visited, the buttons used and any errors, so we can fix things. The free preview also keeps a scrambled (hashed) form of your internet address, only to limit previews per day.
How we use it
To make, show and print your books, to keep your account working, and to fix problems and improve the service.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your photos or stories for advertising.
Photos and AI
The pictures are painted with AI. To do that, your words and photos are sent to the AI providers listed below. We use their business services, which by their terms do not use what we send to train their models. We do not use your photos or stories to train AI either.
In the free preview, your photo is used only to paint the two preview pages and is deleted automatically within a day. Photos in your account stay private to your account and are used only to paint your book.
Who helps us
These companies process information for us so the service works:
- Amazon Web Services: hosting and storage, in the United States.
- Google: sign-in.
- OpenAI: turning a voice memo into text and painting the pictures.
- Anthropic: writing the story, and reading photos of handwritten pages and of people to describe them.
- Lulu: printing and shipping. Lulu receives your book's print files and the shipping address.
- PostHog: usage statistics and feedback. We do not record your screen.
Who can see your books
You can. Our team can open your account to help you, for example if something goes wrong, and each time is recorded. Before a book is printed, our team looks at the proof.
Cookies and browser storage
We use a sign-in cookie and your browser's storage to keep you signed in and to remember small choices. We use no advertising cookies.
Children
Storytruly is for parents, guardians and relatives who are 18 or older. Children do not have accounts. The children in a book appear only through what you choose to share. Please add photos of a child only if you are their parent or guardian, or you have their parent's or guardian's permission.
Keeping and deleting
We keep your books and photos until you delete them. You can delete a book from the book menu, or your whole account from the profile menu. Deleting your account removes your books, photos, saved addresses and sign-in record from our storage. A print order already placed with the printer may be kept by the printer for its own records.

Our servers are in the United States.

If we change this page in a way that matters, we will say so on the site. The date at the top shows the latest version.
